The neighbor explained, “This Kural says: The truly wealthy person is the natural support and good help to these three—family, friends, and kin.” Arjun’s eyes lit up. Wealth wasn’t cash—it was being there for your people!
Arjun sprang into action. He supported his aunt by tutoring younger kids after school, earning extra books they shared. For grandpa, Arjun organized a community water drive, digging a small pond that saved the crops—just the right help. With grandma, he fixed her canvas using recycled paper and painted a team portrait of their family, blending her art with his ideas.
Word spread about their teamwork. The art contest judges visited, saw Arjun’s heartfelt painting, and awarded first prize! The cash bought paints, seeds, and books. But better—the family grew closer, neighbors joined their fun. Aunt hugged Arjun: “You’re our real wealth!” Grandpa added, “Supporting us naturally made us strong.” Arjun beamed, knowing true richness shines in helping those you love.

சென்னையில் 12 வயது அர்ஜுன் தனது ஆசிரியர் அத்தை, விவசாயி தாத்தா மற்றும் ஓவியம் வரையும் பாட்டியுடன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். அவர்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் மிகவும் அன்பாக இருந்து எப்போதும் உதவி செய்து கொண்டே இருந்தார்கள். ஆனால் பணம் குறைவாக இருந்ததால் சில சமயங்களில் சிரமங்களையும் சந்தித்தார்கள்.
அர்ஜுனுக்கு ஓவியம் வரைவது மிகவும் பிடித்தது. நகரத்தில் நடைபெறும் ஓவியப் போட்டியில் கலந்து கொண்டு பரிசு வெல்ல வேண்டும் என்பது அவன் பெரிய கனவாக இருந்தது.
“நான் இந்தப் போட்டியில் வென்றால் நமக்கு எல்லாம் உதவியாக இருக்கும்!” என்று அவன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறி வந்தான்.
ஆனால் அந்த நாட்களில் வீட்டில் சில பிரச்சினைகள் தோன்றின.
அத்தைக்கு பள்ளியில் குழந்தைகளுக்குக் கொடுக்க புத்தகங்கள் போதவில்லை.
மழை பெய்யாததால் தாத்தாவின் வயலில் பயிர்கள் வாடத் தொடங்கின.
பாட்டி வரையும் ஓவியத்திற்கான கன்வாஸ் கிழிந்து போனது.
இவை அனைத்தையும் பார்த்த அர்ஜுன் மிகவும் கவலைப்பட்டான்.
அப்போது அண்டை வீட்டுக்காரர் ஒருவர் ஒரு திருக்குறளைச் சொல்லிக் காட்டினார்:
இல்வாழ்வான் என்பான் இயல்புடைய மூவர்க்கும்
நல்லாற்றின் நின்ற துணை.
அதன் பொருளையும் அவர் விளக்கினார்:
“உண்மையான செல்வம் என்பது பணம் மட்டுமல்ல. குடும்பத்தாருக்கும் நண்பர்களுக்கும் உறவினர்களுக்கும் தேவையான நேரத்தில் துணையாக இருப்பதே உண்மையான செல்வம்.”
இந்த வார்த்தைகள் அர்ஜுனின் மனதில் ஆழமாக பதிந்தன.
அதன் பிறகு அர்ஜுன் உடனே செயலில் இறங்கினான். பள்ளி முடிந்த பிறகு அருகிலுள்ள சிறிய குழந்தைகளுக்கு படிக்க உதவி செய்தான். அதனால் கிடைத்த சிறிய வருமானத்தில் சில புத்தகங்களை வாங்கி அத்தைக்கு உதவினான்.
தாத்தாவின் வயலில் தண்ணீர் தேங்க சிறிய குளம் ஒன்றை தோண்ட நண்பர்களை அழைத்து உதவி செய்தான். அதனால் மழைநீர் சேமிக்கப்பட்டு பயிர்கள் காப்பாற்றப்பட்டன.
பாட்டிக்காக கிழிந்திருந்த கேன்வாஸை சரிசெய்து, அவருடன் சேர்ந்து குடும்பத்தைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும் அழகான ஓவியத்தை வரைந்தான். அந்த ஓவியத்தில் இருந்த அன்பும் ஒற்றுமையும் அனைவரையும் கவர்ந்தது.
போட்டியின் நீதிபதிகள் அந்த ஓவியத்தை பார்த்து மிகவும் மகிழ்ந்தனர். இறுதியில் முதல் பரிசை அர்ஜுனுக்கு வழங்கினர்.
அந்தப் பரிசுத் தொகையால் அவர்கள் புதிய நிறங்கள், விதைகள் மற்றும் புத்தகங்களை வாங்கினர். அதைவிட முக்கியமாக, குடும்பம் இன்னும் நெருக்கமாக ஒன்றுபட்டு வாழ்ந்தது.
அர்ஜுனை அணைத்துக்கொண்டு அத்தை மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கூறினார்:
“அர்ஜுன், நீ தான் எங்கள் உண்மையான செல்வம்.”
அதை கேட்ட அர்ஜுன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் புன்னகைத்தான்.
அன்று அவன் ஒரு முக்கியமான உண்மையை புரிந்துகொண்டான் —
அன்பும் உதவியும் இருக்கும் குடும்பமே உண்மையான செல்வம்.
