She explained, “This Kural means small pride hides your mistakes, but speaking your fault openly shows true greatness.” Ravi decided to try it.
The next weekend, their school organized a community cleanup adventure at the local park. Ravi was team captain. They picked up trash, planted trees, and built a small playground. But midway, Ravi accidentally knocked over a bucket of paint, spilling it everywhere and ruining some flowers. Instead of hiding it or blaming the wind, Ravi owned up right away. “My mistake, everyone. I wasn’t careful—let’s fix this together.”
His team rallied, cleaned the mess, and even improved the garden. They finished first, winning prizes and cheers from neighbors. Lakshmi hugged him and said, “See, Ravi? Admitting your fault turned a slip-up into success. That’s real pride!” Ravi beamed, feeling stronger than any win on the field. From then on, he led with honesty, and his friends trusted him more.

பெருமையின் உண்மை
சிங்கப்பூரில் உள்ள ஒரு உயரமான அடுக்குமாடி குடியிருப்பில் 12 வயது ரவி தனது குடும்பத்துடன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். பள்ளி முடிந்த பிறகு நண்பர்களுடன் கால்பந்து விளையாடுவது அவனுக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த விஷயம். ஆனால் ரவிக்கு ஒரு கெட்ட பழக்கம் இருந்தது. அவர்கள் அணி தோற்றுவிட்டால் உடனே மற்றவர்களைத் தான் குற்றம் சொல்லுவான்.
ஒரு நாள் அவர்களின் குடியிருப்பு பகுதியில் பெரிய கால்பந்து போட்டி நடந்தது. ரவியின் அணி இரண்டு கோல்களுக்கு பின்தங்கியது. அந்த நேரத்தில் அவன் நண்பன் பந்தை இழந்துவிட்டான்.
உடனே ரவி கோபமாக,
“உன்னால்தான்! நீ எப்போதும் இப்படித்தான் தவறு செய்கிறாய்!” என்று கத்தினான்.
அதனால் அணியில் இருந்த மற்றவர்கள் மனம் உடைந்து சண்டை போட்டார்கள். இறுதியில் அவர்கள் போட்டியில் மோசமாக தோற்றார்கள். ரவிக்கு உள்ளுக்குள் வெட்கமாக இருந்தாலும், வெளியே “ரெஃபரி நியாயமாக நடக்கவில்லை. அதனால்தான் நாங்கள் தோற்றோம்” என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.
அதை கவனித்த அவன் அக்கா லட்சுமி, சமையல்காரியாக வேலை பார்த்தாள். அவள் ரவியை அருகில் அமர வைத்து ஒரு திருக்குறளைச் சொன்னாள்.

பிறகு அவள் விளக்கினாள்:
“தவறை மறைப்பது சிறிய மனசு. ஆனால் தன் தவறை நேராக ஒப்புக்கொள்வதே உண்மையான பெருமை.”
அந்த வார்த்தைகள் ரவியின் மனதில் பதிந்தன.
அடுத்த வாரம் பள்ளியில் ஒரு சமூக சேவை நிகழ்ச்சி நடந்தது. அருகிலுள்ள பூங்காவை சுத்தம் செய்து மரங்கள் நடும் பணியில் மாணவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டார்கள். அந்த குழுவின் தலைவராக ரவி தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டான்.
அவர்கள் குப்பைகளை சேகரித்து, புதிய செடிகள் நட ஆரம்பித்தனர். நடுவில் ரவி கவனமாக இல்லாமல் ஒரு பெயிண்ட் வாளியை தட்டிவிட்டான். பெயிண்ட் தரையில் சிந்தி, சில மலர் செடிகள் கெட்டுப்போயின.
முன்போல் இருந்தால் ரவி அதை மறைத்திருப்பான். ஆனால் இந்த முறை அவன் நேராக சொன்னான்.
“இது என் தவறு. நான் கவனமாக இருக்கவில்லை. எல்லாரும் சேர்ந்து இதை சரி செய்வோம்.”
அதை கேட்ட நண்பர்கள் கோபப்படாமல் உடனே உதவினர். அவர்கள் இடத்தை சுத்தம் செய்து, மலர் செடிகளை மீண்டும் நட்டு தோட்டத்தை இன்னும் அழகாக மாற்றினர்.
அந்த வேலை மிகவும் சிறப்பாக நடந்ததால், அந்த குழுவுக்கே முதல் பரிசு கிடைத்தது. அக்கம் பக்கத்தினர் அனைவரும் அவர்களை பாராட்டினர்.
லட்சுமி அக்கா மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் ரவியை அணைத்துக்கொண்டு,
“பார்த்தாயா ரவி? தன் தவறை ஒப்புக்கொண்டதால் தான் இந்த வெற்றி வந்தது. அதுதான் உண்மையான பெருமை,” என்றாள்.
அந்த நாளிலிருந்து ரவி தனது தவறுகளை மறைக்காமல் நேராக ஒப்புக்கொள்ளத் தொடங்கினான். அதனால் அவன் நண்பர்கள் அனைவரும் அவனை இன்னும் அதிகமாக நம்ப ஆரம்பித்தார்கள்.
