At a school in Ooty, the Eco Club built a tiny weather station on the terrace. Every day, twelve-year-old Tara and her friends recorded the temperature, rainfall, wind speed, and cloud patterns. Most students thought it was just another science project, but Tara loved observing the little changes that others rarely noticed.

One week, she found something strange. Every afternoon, the playground became muddy even though it had not rained for days. Instead of guessing the reason, Tara carefully compared the weather records, watched the school garden, and observed the automatic sprinklers during lunch break. After two days, she discovered the real problem—the sprinkler timer had accidentally changed and was watering the field every afternoon.

When Tara informed the principal, the timer was fixed immediately. Sports Day arrived with a dry playground, and every event ran perfectly. The science teacher smiled and said, “A good leader doesn’t solve problems by guessing. They first understand what is happening around them.”

She then recited:
Ellārkkum ellām nigazhpavai eññāṉṟum
vallaṟidhal vēndhan thozhil
Thiruvalluvar teaches that knowing what is happening around us is one of the greatest qualities of leadership. Tara realised that careful observation can prevent small problems from becoming big ones.
Moral
Great leaders observe before they act. Understanding the whole situation leads to wise decisions.

Trivia
