மும்பை நகரின் பரபரப்பான சூழலில் 12 வயது ஆதித்யா தனது குடும்பத்துடன் வாழ்ந்து வந்தான். அவன் அப்பா ஒரு மார்க்கெட்டிங் நிபுணர். “எதை சொல்ல வேண்டுமானாலும் தெளிவாகச் சொன்னால் தான் மக்கள் நம்மை சரியாகப் புரிந்து கொள்வார்கள்” என்று அவர் அடிக்கடி கூறுவார்.
ஆனால் ஆதித்யாவுக்கு ஒரு பழக்கம் இருந்தது. நண்பர்களிடம் பேசும்போது அவன் எப்போதும் புதிர் போல பேசுவான். சிக்கலாக பேசினால் தான் புத்திசாலியாக தோன்றுவேன் என்று அவன் நினைத்தான். அதனால் குழு வேலைகளில் நண்பர்கள் அவனைப் புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியாமல் சிரமப்பட்டனர்.
ஒரு நாள் பள்ளி மாணவர்களுக்கு ஒரு சுவாரஸ்யமான சாகசப் போட்டி நடத்தப்பட்டது. அது “நகர பொக்கிஷ வேட்டை”. நகரத்தின் பல இடங்களில் மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்ட குறிகளையும் புதிர்களையும் கண்டுபிடித்து தீர்க்க வேண்டும்.
ஆதித்யா தனது நண்பர்களுடன் குழுவாக கலந்து கொண்டான்.
முதல் புதிர் வந்தபோது ஆதித்யா வழக்கம்போலச் சொன்னான்:
“மாபெரும் கட்டிடங்கள் உறங்கும் நிழலை தேடுங்கள்!”
நண்பர்கள் குழப்பமடைந்தனர். அது எந்த இடம் என்று யாருக்கும் புரியவில்லை. அவர்கள் நேரத்தை வீணாக பல இடங்களில் தேடிக் கொண்டே இருந்தனர்.
அப்போது ஆதித்யாவுக்கு தன் அப்பாவின் வார்த்தைகள் நினைவுக்கு வந்தது.
அவன் உடனே தனது பேச்சை மாற்றினான்.
“கடற்கரைக்கு அருகில் இருக்கும் பெரிய ஹோட்டல்களின் நிழல் மாலை நேரத்தில் பழைய கோட்டைக்கு அருகே விழும். அங்கே தான் அடுத்த குறி இருக்கும்,” என்று தெளிவாகச் சொன்னான்.
இந்த முறை அனைவருக்கும் உடனே புரிந்தது. அவர்கள் விரைவாக அங்கே சென்று புதிரை தீர்த்தனர்.
அடுத்த சவாலில் சந்தையில் இருந்து சில துணி துண்டுகளை பெற வேண்டும். நண்பர்கள் எப்படி கேட்க வேண்டும் என்று யோசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
ஆதித்யா நேராக கடைக்காரரிடம் சென்று,
“எங்களுக்கு சுற்றுச்சூழல் பையை செய்ய சில துணி துண்டுகள் தேவை. கொஞ்சம் தர முடியுமா?” என்று மரியாதையாக கேட்டான்.
அந்த கடைக்காரர் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் தேவையான துணிகளையும் கூடுதலாகக் கொடுத்தார்.
மற்றொரு சவாலில் ஒரு சிறிய மின்னணு கருவியை சரிசெய்ய வேண்டும். ஆதித்யா மிகவும் தெளிவாக வழிகாட்டினான்:
“சிவப்பு கம்பியை மின்சார இணைப்பில் சேர்க்கவும். நீல கம்பியை தரையில் இணைக்கவும்.”
அதனால் கருவி உடனே சரியாக வேலை செய்தது.
அவர்களின் குழு அனைத்து சவால்களையும் வேகமாக முடித்து முதல் இடத்தைப் பெற்றது. ஆசிரியர்கள் அவர்களை “சிறந்த புதிர் தீர்ப்பாளர்கள்” என்று பாராட்டினர்.
வீட்டிற்கு வந்தபோது ஆதித்யாவின் அப்பா ஒரு திருக்குறளைச் சொன்னார்:
எண்பொருளவாகச் செலச்சொல்லித் தான்பிறர்வாய்
நுண்பொருள் காண்பது அறிவு.
அவர் விளக்கினார்:
“எளிய விஷயங்களை தெளிவாகச் சொன்னால், அதை கேட்பவர்கள் ஆழமான பொருளையும் எளிதாகப் புரிந்து கொள்வார்கள். அதுவே உண்மையான அறிவு.”
அதை கேட்ட ஆதித்யா மகிழ்ந்தான். அந்த நாளிலிருந்து அவன் எங்கு பேசினாலும் தெளிவாகவும் எளிமையாகவும் பேச ஆரம்பித்தான்.
அதனால் நண்பர்களும் அவனை நன்றாகப் புரிந்து கொண்டு மேலும் நெருக்கமாக ஆனார்கள்.
