Every Saturday morning in Jaipur, children loved visiting Rangoli Park, where the caretaker, Mr. Dinesh, welcomed everyone with a warm smile. Whether someone wanted to borrow a football, report a broken swing, or simply ask a question, he always listened patiently. Because of him, the park became a place where everyone felt comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns.
One summer, the city appointed a new park manager. He was intelligent and hardworking, but he believed that being strict meant raising his voice. Whenever children asked for help, he would snap, “Can’t you see I’m busy?” Soon, no one dared to tell him that the drinking water tap had stopped working or that a rusted slide had become dangerous.
Days later, a little girl slipped on the damaged slide and injured her arm. The manager felt terrible when he realised that many children had noticed the problem earlier but had been too frightened to speak to him.
After that incident, he decided to change. Every evening, he sat on a bench and invited children to share suggestions. He thanked them for every idea, no matter how small. Slowly, the laughter returned to the park, problems were solved quickly, and families once again enjoyed spending time there.
One day, an elderly gardener smiled and recited:
காட்சிக் கெளியன் கடுஞ்சொல்லன் அல்லனேல்
மீக்கூறும் மன்னன் நிலம்.
Kāṭchik keḷiyan kaḍuñchollan allanēl
mīkkūṟum maṉṉaṉ nilam.
He explained, “A true leader is easy to approach and gentle in speech. When people are not afraid to speak, the place they lead naturally prospers.”
The manager looked around at the joyful park and realised that leadership wasn’t about making people fear you. It was about making them feel heard.

ஜெய்ப்பூரில் இருந்த ரங்கோலி பூங்கா ஒவ்வொரு சனிக்கிழமையும் குழந்தைகளின் சிரிப்பால் நிறைந்திருக்கும். அங்கிருந்த பராமரிப்பாளர் தினேஷ் அங்கிள் அனைவரிடமும் அன்பாகப் பேசுவார். பந்து காணாமல் போனாலும், ஊஞ்சல் உடைந்தாலும், ஒரு சிறிய சந்தேகம் இருந்தாலும், குழந்தைகள் தயக்கமின்றி அவரிடம் சென்று சொல்வார்கள். அதனால் பூங்காவில் பிரச்சினைகள் பெரிதாக மாறுவதற்குள் தீர்ந்துவிடும்.
ஒரு கோடை காலத்தில் புதிய மேலாளர் ஒருவர் பொறுப்பேற்றார். அவர் மிகவும் உழைப்பாளி. ஆனால் எப்போதும் கடுமையாகப் பேசுவார். “அவ்வளவு நேரம் இல்லையா?”, “இதற்காக என்னைத் தொந்தரவு செய்யாதீர்கள்!” என்று கோபமாகப் பதில் சொல்வார். சில நாட்களிலேயே குழந்தைகள் அவரிடம் எதையும் சொல்லாமல் விட்டுவிட்டனர். குடிநீர் குழாய் பழுதாகியதும், ஒரு சறுக்குபலகை துருப்பிடித்து ஆபத்தான நிலையிலிருந்ததும் அவருக்குத் தெரியவே இல்லை.
ஒருநாள் அந்தச் சறுக்குபலகையில் விளையாடிய சிறுமி ஒருவர் கீழே விழுந்து காயமடைந்தாள். அப்போது தான் பல குழந்தைகளுக்கு இந்தப் பிரச்சினை முன்பே தெரிந்திருந்தும், மேலாளரின் கோபத்தைப் பயந்து யாரும் சொல்லவில்லை என்பதை அவர் உணர்ந்தார்.
அதன்பிறகு அவர் மாற முடிவு செய்தார். ஒவ்வொரு மாலையும் ஒரு பெஞ்சில் அமர்ந்து, “யாருக்காவது சொல்ல வேண்டியது இருந்தால் வாருங்கள்,” என்று அழைப்பார். குழந்தைகள் மெதுவாக மீண்டும் பேசத் தொடங்கினர். சிறிய குறைகள்கூட உடனுக்குடன் சரிசெய்யப்பட்டன. சில வாரங்களில் பூங்கை மீண்டும் சிரிப்பும் மகிழ்ச்சியும் நிறைந்த இடமாக மாறியது.
ஒருநாள் வயதான தோட்டக்காரர் சிரித்தபடி இந்தக் குறளைச் சொன்னார்:

மீக்கூறும் மன்னன் நிலம்.
பின்னர் அவர் கூறினார்: “மக்கள் எளிதாக அணுகக்கூடியவராகவும், இனிமையாகப் பேசுபவராகவும் இருக்கும் தலைவரின் கீழ் அனைவரும் மனம் திறந்து பேசுவார்கள். அங்கே வளர்ச்சி தானாகவே வரும்.”
அன்று அந்த மேலாளர் ஒரு பெரிய உண்மையைப் புரிந்துகொண்டார். அதிகாரம் மக்களை அமைதியாக்கலாம்; ஆனால் அன்பான வார்த்தைகள்தான் அவர்களை மனம் திறந்து பேச வைக்கும்.
